WTH Does The 6-7 Trend Have To Do With The Viral New Trend In Resumé Writing?

The 6 7 kid Mav trevillian for a blog explaining how the viral trend is popping up in recruitment trends & the disruptive resumé writing trend

In 2026 recruiters are inundated with applications and research suggests they spend just 6-7 seconds looking at a resumé before deciding whether to proceed or not. Here’s how a little bit of knowledge and that annoying six seven trend can help you stand out - fast.

What Is The 67 Trend?

The 6-7 trend (aka six seven or 6 7) is a gen alpha internet meme that originated with the release of the Skrilla song Doot Doot (6 7) in February 2025. It took over TikTok and Instagram, permeated pretty much every area of young pop culture in 2025 - and now it’s infiltrated recruitment and resumé writing.

The 67 part of thf Doot Doot song initially became popular for basketball fan edits, especially of LaMelo Ball who’s 6 ft 7 inches tall. Poetry btw!!

It gained even more traction when Overtime Elite baller Taylen TK Kinney used it repeatedly as his catchphrase in post game interviews, either to rate play or to answer questions with the signature 6-7 hand move.

And then in March Mav Trevillian took it through the roof when a PUMPED video of him yelling 6-7 at a basketball game with his friends was uploaded to YouTube by Black creator and youth basketball mega fan Cam Wilder

You can see the exact moment in this Youtube video that became the viral 6-7 meme at around 13:24.

Cam asked for more energy for the shot and that’s exactly what he got. The moment - and the meme - went double platinum with the video scoring millions of views and Mav christened the 67 kid, now a TikTok influencer with nearly a million followers (and he’s starting his own podcast What did 6 ask 7?).

WTF Does The 6-7 Trend Have To Do With The Viral New Trend In Resumé Writing?

As a resumé and CV writer and OG creator of the Disruptive Resumé™️ I’m here to tell you that the 6 7 meme has a super effective tie in that will make your next resumé an outstanding resumé that stands - all within the 6-7 seconds you get to make an impression with the overloaded recruiters who’ll be reading it.

The key is personality, and at What Charlie ReWrote that personality comes from a hard hitting dose of pop culture that provokes thought, gets a reaction, and stops recruiters in their tracks.

While I have thoughts on how recruiters could improve, I do have compassion for how under the pump they are, and I’ve seen first hand that prospective employers can receive hundreds of very similar, dry, poorly worded and confusingly formatted resumés.

All they’re really looking for is something (someone) amazing to catch their eye.

How Long Do Recruiters Really Spend Reading CVs, Resumés & Cover Letters?

In 2012 The Ladders job board website conducted an eye-tracking study of recruiters’ eye movements as they scanned resumés.

When the results came in they showed that the pool of recruiters spent just under six seconds on what they describe as the initial “fit vs not fit” decision.

80% of this time included a micro scan of name, current/previous title and company, dates, and education.

In 2018 a follow up study revealed an updated average scan time of around 7.4 seconds, and this is where the 6-7 second data originates from.

Any applicants making it past that first round then have a second sweep with an approximately 30 second scan to determine whether or not they deserve serious consideration.

A 2024 ResumeGo study of 400+ recruiters confirmed that 33% spend 10–30 seconds reviewing a resume, 47% spend 30 seconds to 1 minute, and 11% spend 1–2 minutes max reading a resume.

This is proof of how important it is to apply with an excellent resumé that’s puts you far ahead of the pack and makes a lasting impression in the fastest possible time.
